Cathy Jones Coburn was named #1 Top Producer at Slifer Smith & Frampton for 2012 - $81 Million in Sales - Second Consecutive Year as being Slifer Smith & Frampton’s Top Producer
Cathy JonesCoburn never planned on a real estate career, yet today she is the quintessential VailValleyreal estate professional. During her 33 years selling luxury mountain resort properties, she has consistently remained one of the nation’s top producers. She was recognized by the Wall Street Journal as the 5th top producing realtor in the nation (an incredible feat in itself) for 2007 with $201,041,550 in sales (this was the third consecutive year in a row for this recognition). She was also inducted in the fall of 2008 to the exclusive and prestigious Luxury Real Estate 'Billionaires Club', of which there are only a few other select real estate agents in the country with this affiliation. To qualify for this designation one must have sold over one billion in sales over the length of their real estate career. One of her favorite accolades is being named ‘One of Colorado’s 25 Most Powerful Sales People’ by Colorado Biz Magazine in their January 2009 issue. Cathy was featured in the article but also appeared on the Cover. She continues to thrive, in the most challenging of real estate markets. Cathy’s sales in 2012 were $81 million making her the #1 Top Producer for all of Slifer Smith & Frampton for the second year in a row. This is an amazing accomplishment given the challenging market that has faced the real estate community in the last few years. Slifer Smith & Frampton is the largest and most successful real estate brokerage in Eagle County. The total personal sales volume for Cathy in 2012 far exceeds many of the other ‘companies’ within the Vail Valley.
Cathy started her life in the mountains in 1974, where she headed to Copper Mountain Resort, and soon secured a marketing position working alongside such future Vail Resorts’ execs as Andy Daly and Kent Myers. Marketing and sales agreed with her. By the late 1970’s, she was managing Colorado’s Front Range marketing office for Keystone Resort, with responsibilities ranging from advertising for all Front Range television and radio to the overall marketing of the resort.
In 1980, Cathy joined Keystone Real Estate in Keystone Resort and quickly became the company’s top producer. In 1986, she moved to Beaver Creek Resort and began selling with Vail Associates Real Estate, then with Slifer Smith & Frampton, and stayed on after the 1994 merger of the two. Following the merger, Cathy was appointed Branch Broker of SSF’s Hyatt Office. During her four years in that position, she was one of SSF’s top producers and the listing broker for major Beaver Creek developments.
In 1998, Cathy relocated to SSF’s Bachelor Gulch Office, where she became the listing broker for Bear Paw, Settler’s Lodge, Firelight and the Horizon Pass Townhomes. These properties represent a major portion of Bachelor Gulch’s multi-family developments, a total of ninety residences. Since moving to the Bachelor Gulch Sales Office (located in The Ritz-Carlton® Hotel), Cathy has the distinction of being the Bachelor Gulch office’s top producer for 12 years. She is also the Branch Broker of the Bachelor Gulch Office. Her sales record of a cumulative total of $1,129,000,000 (over $1 billion in just the past 10 years), without her previous 22 years of sales noted, certainly makes Cathy one of the top agents in the Vail Valley and in the entire country.
Cathy is known for high-end residential listings and sales and was the listing and selling agent for many of the highest priced homes ever sold in the history of Beaver Creek Resort and Bachelor Gulch Village (as well as in Vail). In Bachelor Gulch alone, Cathy sold five of the six single family homes sales in the resort in 2011. Not only did Cathy sell five of these high-end single family homes but she was also the listing agent for two of the properties. Her sales continue which Cathy attributes to working harder and smarter in a tough market and being very knowledgeable about the current market and inventory. She has the current listings of many luxury homes throughout the Vail Valley. Cathy specializes in not only the high-end luxury market but is equally as proficient in condominium sales having been the original listing agent for East West Partners and many of their projects. She now handles the listing and sales of many of these re-sale properties.
Cathy lives with her husband, Russ, at their residence at the Horizon Pass Townhomes in gorgeousBachelorGulchVillage. Her outside interests include traveling, golf, gardening and flying in their own plane for quick get-always as well as skiing if the weather is nice. Her main enjoyment, other than the activities with Russ and her daughter Lindsay, is the opportunity to sell real estate in the best place in the world, meet wonderful people and have friends from all walks of life.
